The Panasonic Lumix DMC ZX1 is a 12 megapixel digital camera with an 8x optical zoom lens. Zoom can be increased to a maximum 15.6x when shooting at lower resolutions. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 25 - 200mm in 35mm format. 4x digital zoom is also available.

The maximum flash range is 5.3m. This falls to 2.9m when the zoom lens is fully extended.

There are a number of preset scene modes. You can shoot movies with a widescreen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. These are suitable for playback on a widescreen television. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. Sound can be recorded and zoom can be applied during shooting.

Verdict:	This is a good all round snapshot digital camera. It produces good photos in most situations and the extra zoom should come in handy. Shutter lag and turn on times are extremely impressive.
