The Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ7 is a 10 megapixel camera with an ultra wide angle 12x optical zoom lens. The lens has a focal length equivalent to 25 - 300m in 35mm format. If you reduce the amount of megapixels you are using more zoom becomes available. There is a maximum 21.4x zoom available when shooting at under 3 megapixels. 4x digital zoom is available too.

The maximum flash range is 5.3m. This falls to 3.6m when the zoom lens is fully extended.

The Lumix DMC TZ7 offers an intelligent scene selector (Portrait, Scenery, Night Portrait, Night Scenery, Macro). There are also a number of preset scene modes. These are: Portrait, Soft Skin, Transform, Self-Portrait, Scenery, Panorama Assist, Sports, Night Portrait,, Night Scenery, Food, Party, Candle Light, Baby1, Baby2, Pet, Sunset, High sensitivity,, Hi-Speed Burst (Image Priority, Speed Priority), Flash Burst, Starry Sky, Fireworks, Beach, Snow,, Aerial photo, Pinhole, Film Grain and Underwater.

You can shoot High Definition movies with a widescreen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. The Lumix DMC TZ7 records movies in stereo sound and zoom can be applied during shooting.

Just as for still photos the Lumix DMC TZ7 also has some intelligent scene selector settings for movies. These are Portrait, Scenery, Low Light and Macro.

There is also a number built in movie scene modes: Portrait, Soft Skin, Transform, Self-Portrait, Scenery, Low Light,, Food, Party, Candle Light, Sunset, Beach, Snow, Aerial, Pinhole, Film Grain, Underwater and High Sensitivity.

Verdict:	There is a great deal to like about this camera. Picture quality is up there with the very best cameras in this class. It has one of the most advanced movie modes around and there are other great touches such as the quality of the LCD screen.
