The Panasonic DMC LZ10 is a 10 megapixel digital camera with a 5x optical zoom lens. The amount of zoom available can be increased when shooting at low resolutions. For example the maximum zoom available is 8.9x when shooting at 3 megapixels. 4x digital zoom is also available
The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 30 - 150mm in 35mm format.
In macro mode the DMC LZ10 can focus from 5cm away from the subject. Face detection focusing is available for portrait shots.
The 2.5 inch LCD screen is made up of around 230,000 pixels. It also has a high angle mode. This makes it easier to see the screen if you need to hold the DSC LZ10 above eye level to take a photo.
The built in flash unit has a maximum range of 6.8m when the zoom is not being used. This reduces to 3.8m when the zoom lens is in use. The flash modes are Auto, Auto/Red-eye Reduction, Forced On, Slow Sync./Red-eye Reduction and Forced Off.
The scene modes available to you are: Portrait, Scenery, Sports, Night Portrait, Self-Portrait, Food, Party, Candle Light, Sunset, Baby1, Baby2, Fireworks, Starry Sky, Beach, Aerial photo, Snow, High Sensitivity, Pet and Hi-Speed Burst.
Panasonic are one of the only brands to offer a special widescreen television, movie mode (resolution 848 x 480 pixels). Sound can be recorded. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second and zoom can be applied before recording starts.
All the necessary cables and software are supplied to attach the Panasonic DMC LZ10 to a computer, television set and compatible printer.

| Verdict: | I would have liked to have seen a touch more sharpness and a touch more brightness in some of the shots I took with the Panasonic DMC LZ10. It has a good set of features and is available for a reasonable price. |
