The Panasonic DMC LX3 is an advanced 10 megapixel digital camera. It offers 2.5x optical zoom. If you are shooting at lower megapixels the amount of zoom available increases to a maximum of 4.5x zoom available. 4x digital zoom can also be used.

The lens is wide angle with a focal length equivalent to 24 - 60mm in 35mm format.

The LCD monitor is 3 inches in size. The screen is made up of around 460,000 dots. You can buy separately an optical viewfinder.

The flash modes are: Auto, Auto/Red-eye Reduction, Forced On, Slow Sync./Red-eye Reduction, Forced Off, Flash Synchro 1st, 2nd. The maximum flash range is 8.3m. This falls to 5.9m when the zoom lens is fully extended.

There are a number of preset scene modes. These are: Portrait, Soft Skin, Self-Portrait, Scenery, Sports, Night Portrait, Night Scenery, Food, Party, Candle Light, Baby1, Baby2, Pet, Sunset, High sensitivity, Starry Sky, Fireworks, Beach, Snow, Aerial photo, Hi-Speed Burst, Flash-Burst, Film Grain and Pin Hole.

You can shoot High Definition movies with a widescreen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The top recording speed is 24 frames per second. Sound can be recorded and zoom can be applied before shooting starts.
