The Olympus SP-565UZ is a 10 megapixel digital camera with a 20x optical zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 26 - 520mm in 35mm format. 5x digital zoom is also available.

The LCD monitor is 2.5 inches in size. The screen is made up of around 230,000 dots. There is also an electronic viewfinder with dioptre correction.

The flash modes are: Automatic, Red-eye reduction, Fill-in, Off, Red-eye reduction & Fill-in, Slow synchronisation, Slow synchronisation with red-eye reduction and Slow synchronisation 2nd curtain. The maximum flash range is 4.5m. This falls to 2.8m when the zoom lens is fully extended. Flash compensation is also available.

There are a number of preset scene modes. These are: Portrait, Landscape, Landscape with Portrait, Sports, Night Scene, Night Scene with portrait, Indoor, Candle, Self-portrait, Available Light Portrait, Sunset, Fireworks, Multi Fireworks, Cuisine, Behind Glass, Documents, Auction, Shoot & Select 1, Shoot & Select 2, Smile Shot, Beach, Snow, Bird Watching, Pre-Capturing Movie and Quick Shutter.

You can shoot movies with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. Sound can be recorded and optical zoom can be applied while shooting is in progress.

After a photo has been taken you can edit your shots to reduce red eye and alter brightness. You can also change photos to be in black and white or sepia.

Verdict:	This is a typical super zoom digital camera. I found very few negative points and it is able to handle most situations. It has plenty of features to get to grips with and is well worth considering if you are looking for a camera with extra zoom power.
