The Olympus MJU 820 is an 8 megapixel digital camera. It has a 5x optical zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 36 - 180mm in 35mm format. 5.6x digital zoom is also available.
This camera also has a weatherproof body.
In macro mode the MJU 820 can focus from 20cm. There is also a super macro mode that gets you in closer at 3cm. Face detection focusing is also available.
The LCD screen is 2.7 inches in size. It is made up of around 230,000 pixels.
The flash unit has a maximum range of 3.9m (wide) and 2.6m (tele). The settings for flash are automatic, red eye reduction, always on and off.
There is a wide range of scene modes available. These are: Sports, Indoor, Candle, Self-portrait, Available Light Portrait, Sunset, Fireworks, Cuisine, Behind Glass, Documents, Auction, Shoot & Select 1, Shoot & Select 2, Smile Shot and Beach and Snow.
Image Editing
After a photo has been taken it can be changed to sepia or black and white. You can also correct saturation, red eye, face focus and brightness.
The maximum resolution for a movie is 640 x 480 pixels. The top recording speed for the movie is 30 frames per second. Sound can be captured. Zoom can be applied before shooting starts, but not while the recording is in progress.
Advanced features include metering (ESP, Spot), exposure compensation (+/- 2 EV / 1/3 steps), sensitivity (ISO 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200) and white balance (Sunlight, Overcast, Tungsten, Flourescent 1, Flourescent 2, Flourescent 3).
Shutter speeds are controlled automatically by the camera. These work in the range 1/2 - 1/2000 seconds. In night mode shutter speeds can increase to 4 seconds.
There is a sequential shooting setting that allows to shoot at a maximum speed of 7 frames per second for up to 11 frames. This is available when you reduce the resolution to 3 megapixels.
Cables and software are supplied to attach the MJU 820 to a television, computer and compatible printer.
