Olympus MJU 1040 Features

The Olympus MJU 1040 is a 10 megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom. 5x digital zoom is a further option for increasing zoom. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 38 - 114mm in 35mm format.

The LCD monitor is 2.7 inches in size. The screen is made up of around 230,000 dots.

The flash modes are: Automatic, Red-eye reduction, on and off. The maximum flash range is 4.1m. This falls to 2.9m when the zoom lens is fully extended. The range figures quoted are at ISO 800. Therefore when auto ISO is used the range is likely to be lower. In other words the flash unit is not very powerful.

There are a number of preset scene modes. These are: Portrait, Landscape, Landscape with Portrait, Night Scene with portrait, Sports, Self-portrait, Cuisine and Smile Shot

You can shoot movies with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. Sound can be recorded and zoom can be applied before shooting starts.

  Verdict:	This is a very small and stylish camera. You should have no problem slipping it into a pocket. It offers fair value for money. When compared to other pocket cameras it is easy to use and comes with a basic set of features. Picture quality is o.k. without being anything exceptional.
