Megapixels and Zoom
The Olympus MJU 1030 SW is a 10 megapixel digital camera with a 3.6x wide angle zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 28 - 102mm in 35mm format. The maximum aperture is f/3.5 - f/5.1. 5x digital zoom is also available.

Basics

Focusing

In super macro mode the MJU 1030 SW can focus from 2cm away from the subject. Face detection focusing is available for portrait photos.

LCD

The 2.7 inch LCD is made up of around 230,000 pixels.

Flash

The built in flash unit has a maximum range of 4.1m falling to 2.7m when the zoom lens is fully extended. Flash modes are automatic, on, off and red eye reduction.

Scene Modes

There are a variety of scene modes available. These are Portrait, Landscape, Landscape with Portrait, Night Scene, Night Scene with portrait, Sports, Indoor, Candle, Self-portrait, Available Light Portrait, Sunset, Fireworks, Museum, Cuisine, Behind Glass, Documents, Auction, Shoot & Select 1, Shoot & Select 2, Beach and Snow, Underwater Snapshot, Underwater Wide 1, Underwater Wide 2 and Underwater Macro.

Image Editing

After a still picture has been taken there are a number if editing features you can use. These can turn the picture into black and white or sepia, correct saturation levels, clean up red eye and adjust shadows.

Movies

In movie mode you can shoot movies at a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and a top speed of 30 frames per second. Zoom can be applied before you start recording and sound can be captured as well. There is also a pre capturing setting. This leaves the video capture running. The last few seconds of footage are stored in memory and helps to ensure you don't miss any action if you are that bit late starting to record.

Advanced Features

There are a number of more advanced feature. These include:

Shutter speeds are set automatically by the camera. These work in the range ½ - 1/1000 seconds. Maximum speeds of 4 seconds are available in night scene mode.

A high speed shooting mode can capture up to 7 shots at a maximum rate of 0.7 frames per second. If you decrease the number of megapixels you are working with to 3 Olympus claim you can reel off 11 shots at a high speed 5.2 shots every second.

Computer - Printers - Television

All the necessary cables and software are supplied to attach the Olympus MJU 1030 SW to a computer, television set and compatible printer.
