The Olympus FE-4000 is a 12 megapixel digital camera with a 4x wide angle lens. 4x digital zoom is also available. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 26.3 - 105mm in 35mm format.

The LCD monitor is 2.7 inches in size. The screen is made up of around 230,000 dots.

There are a number of preset scene modes. These are: Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene, Night Scene with portrait, Sports, Indoor, Candle, Self-portrait, Sunset, Fireworks, Cuisine, Documents and Pet.

You can shoot movies with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. Sound can be recorded and optical zoom can be applied before shooting starts. Digital zoom can be applied while shooting is in progress.

Verdict:	The Olympus FE-4000 struggles to take a decent snap. I found the pictures to lack focus and to lose definition in the lighter areas of any shot. There is also a serious issue with the delay time between clicking the shutter button and the picture being taken.
