Fuji Finepix S9600 Features

Fuji Finepix S9600 The Fuji Finepix S9600 has nine megapixels and a 10.7x optical zoom lens. The lens has a focal length equivalent to F 2.8 - F4.9 in 35mm format. The maximum aperture of the lens is F 2.8 - F4.9. You can also apply 2x digital zoom.

Basics

The colour options are fairly limited. The only additional colours you can select are black and white and sepia.

There is a special 3:2 format. This lets you produce 6 x 4" prints without the need to trim the photo at all.

Images can be saved in RAW format.

After a photo has been taken you can add 30 seconds of voice commentary to it.

A self timer is available for when you would like to be in the shot. It can be set to either a two or ten second delay.

Levels of sharpness, saturation and contrast can be adjusted.

Focusing

Manual focusing is available. It is controlled by a ring on the lens unit. A super macro mode is available. This allows the camera to focus from 1cm away from the subject.

LCD

For composing your shots you have a choice between an electronic viewfinder and an LCD screen. The screen is two inches in size and can be pulled up through a 90 degree arc.

Flash

The maximum range of the pop up flash unit is 5.6m. This falls to 3m when the zoom lens is in use. The flash modes available are Auto, Red-eye Reduction, Forced Flash, Suppressed Flash, Slow Synchro. You can also adjust the intensity of the flash.

Scene Modes

The Finepix S9600 has a smaller number of preprogrammed scene modes than most digital cameras do. There are four: Natural Light, Portrait, Landscape and Night. When you select a scene mode the camera will use what it considers to be the optimum settings for the shot.

Movies

Movies with a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels can be recorded. A top speed of 30 frames per second should give you TV quality movies. Sound can be recorded and you can zoom in and out while recording is in progress.

Advanced Features

You have full control over aperture (F2.8 - F11, 13 steps) and shutter speed (30sec. to 1/4000sec). Fully manual, aperture priority and shutter priority are all available.

You can also adjust sensitivity (ISO 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600), white balance (Fine, Shade, Fluorescent light (Daylight), Fluorescent light (Warm White), Fluorescent light (Cool White), Incandescent light, Custom(2 types)), metering (Multi, Spot, Average) and bracketing.

There are a number of continuous shooting or burst modes available. These are 1.5 frames per second for up to four shots, 1.5 frames per second to record the final four shots only of a burst and 1.1 frames per second for 40 shots.

Computer - Printers - Television

As is standard amongst digital cameras all the necessary cables and software are supplied to connect the camera to a compatible printer, television set and computer.

Extras

A conversion lens to increase the wide angle capability of the Finepix S9600 can be purchased separately. Fuji Finepix S9600
