The Fuji Finepix S5800 is an 8 megapixel camera with a 10x zoom lens. The camera also offers 5.1x digital zoom. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 38 - 380mm on a 35mm camera.
In super macro mode you can focus from 1cm away from the subject. Manual focusing is also available.
The 2.5 inch LCD screen is made up of around 230,000 pixels. There is also an electronic viewfinder.
The scene modes you can select from are Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower and Text.
Standard movies can be recorded at a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. Sound can be recorded and zoom is also available. The duration of each movie is only limited by the capacity of the memory card.
Fully manual exposure is available along with aperture and shutter priority. Apertures can be set in the range F3.5- F13.6, while shutter speeds can be selected between 4 seconds and 1/1000 seconds.
Other advanced features include continuous shooting, white balance (Automatic scene recognition Preset (Fine, Shade, Fluorescent light (Daylight), Fluorescent light (Warm White), Fluorescent light (Cool White), Incandescent light), Custom), ISO (Auto / Auto(800)/ Auto(400)/ Equivalent to 64/100/200/400/800/1600), bracketing (+/- 1), exposure compensation and metering (multi point, spot and average).
Cables and software are provided by Fuji to attach the Finepix S5800 to a compatible printer, television or computer.

The lower price can be attributed to a few features being missing, such as image stabilisation. If you need zoom and your budget doesn't stretch to the more expensive models then this one is worth a closer look." |
