Megapixels and Zoom
The Casio Exilim EX-V8 is an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 7x optical zoom lens. The camera also offers 4x digital zoom. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 38 - 266mm in 35mm format.
Basics

Focusing
Special face detection focusing is available for portrait shots. As well as the standard auto focus setting you can use infinity focusing and manual focusing. In macro mode the Exilim EX-V8 can focus from 10cm away from the subject.
LCD
The LCD screen is a standard 2.5 inches in size. It is made up of 230,400 pixels.
Flash
The flash unit has a maximum range of 2.6m (wide) and 1.7m (tele). The flash modes are Auto, Flash On, Flash Off, Soft Flash and Red Eye Reduction. The intensity of the flash can be adjusted.
Scene Modes
The scene modes are known as Best Shot on the Exilim EX-V8. The list of available scenes is: portrait, scenery, portrait with scenery, children, sports, candlelight portrait, party, pet, flower, natural green, autumn leaves, soft flowing water, splashing water, sundown, night scene, night scene portrait, fireworks, food, text, collection, auction, backlight, high sensitivity, underwater, monochrome, retro, twilight, layout, layout 2, auto framing, id photo, old photo, business cards and documents, whiteboard and custom.
Movies
Movies can be shot using a special widescreen resolution of 848 x 480. Sound can be recorded and zoom can be applied during capture.
Advanced Features
As well as fully manual exposure you also have access to Shutter Speed Priority and Aperture Priority. Shutter speeds can be set in the range 60 seconds to 1/800 seconds. The aperture can be set to F3.4 / 4.6 / 9.2.
Other advanced features are metering (Multi-pattern, centre weighted, spot by imaging element), exposure compensation (-2EV to +2EV (in 1/3EV steps)), white balance (auto, sunshine, cloudy, shade, fluorescent 1, fluorescent 2, tungsten and manual), sensitivity (Auto, ISO 50, ISO 100, ISO 200, ISO 400, ISO 800) and continuous shooting.

All the necessary cables and software are supplied to connect the camera to a compatible printer, television and computer.
