Casio Exilim EX-V7 Features

Casio Exilim EX-V7 The Casio Exilim EX-V7 is a seven megapixel digital camera with a longer than standard seven times zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 38 to 266mm in 35mm format. Four times digital zoom is also available. The maximum lens aperture is F3.4 (W) to 5.3 (T).

Basics

There is a special resolution for taking photos to be made into 6 x 4" prints.

A self timer with a two or ten second delay allows you to appear in a picture.

The camera can be used purely as a voice recorder.

30 seconds of sound can be stored with a still photo.

Colour filters for black and white, sepia, red, green, blue, yellow, pink and purple can be used. You can also adjust levels of sharpness, saturation and contrast.

Focusing

For close up photography macro mode allows the Exilim EX-V7 to focus from 10cm away from the subject. Manual focusing is available too.

LCD

The 2.5" LCD screen is made up of around 230,400 pixels.

Flash

The maximum range of the flash unit is limited to 2.2m. This falls even further to 1.4m when the zoom lens is in use. Flash modes are Auto, Flash On, Flash Off, Soft Flash, Red Eye Reduction. The intensity of the flash can be adjusted through the menu.

Scene Modes

As ever with Casio digital cameras there is a very wide range of preset scene modes. Selecting a scene identifies to the camera the type of photo you are about to take. It will then use what it considers to be the best settings for the shot. The scene modes are: portrait, scenery, portrait with scenery, children, sports, candlelight portrait, party, pet, flower, natural green, autumn leaves, soft flowing water, splashing water, sundown, night scene, night scene portrait, fireworks, food, text, collection, auction, backlight, high sensitivity, monochrome, retro, twilight, layout, auto framing, id photo, old photo, business cards/documents and white board.

Movies

Widescreen movies with a resolution of 848 x 480 pixels can be captured. Sound can be recorded and zoom can be applied while shooting a movie. There are also a range of special movie scene modes.

Advanced Features

Fully manual, aperture priority and shutter priority modes are all available. Shutter speeds work in the range 60 to 1/800 seconds in shutter priority and manual mode, 1 to 1/800 seconds in aperture priority mode and 1/8 to 1/2000 seconds in automatic mode. The aperture has three steps F3.4, 4.6 and 9.2.

Other advanced features include metering (Multi-pattern, centre weighted, spot), exposure compensation (-2EV to +2EV (in 1/3EV steps)), white balance (auto, sunny, cloudy, shade, fluorescent night, fluorescent day, tungsten and manual) and ISO sensitivity (Auto, 64, 100, 200, 400, 800).
