The Casio Exilim EX-S12 is a 12 megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 36 - 108mm in 35mm format.

The LCD monitor is 2.7 inches in size. The screen is made up of around 230,160 dots. You can opt to display key menu options down the right hand side of the screen.

The flash modes are: Auto, Flash On, Flash Off, Soft Flash, Red Eye Reduction

There are a number of preset scene modes. These are: dynamic portrait, portrait, scenery, portrait with scenery, self portrait, self portrait (two people), children, sports, candlelight portrait, party, pet, flower, natural green, autumn leaves, soft flowing water, splashing water, sundown, night scene, night scene portrait, fireworks, food, text, collection, auction, backlight and underwater twilight, multi motion image, ID photo, business cards and documents and whiteboard.

You can shoot High Definition movies with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The top recording speed is 24 frames per second in High Definition mode. Sound can be recorded and zoom can be applied before shooting starts. You can also shoot old fashioned, silent movies. In addition there is a pre record movie feature and one that allows easy upload to YouTube.

Verdict:	This is an extremely slim digital camera. It scores highly for ease of use and can also shoot High Definition movies. Picture quality is below top level, but it should get you by for most snapshot opportunities.
