The Canon Powershot SX200 IS is a 12 megapixel digital camera with a wide angle 12x optical zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 28 - 336mm in 35mm format. 4x digital zoom is also available.

If you are looking to add something different to your photos you can use the following colour filters: Vivid, Neutral, Sepia, Black and White, Positive Film, Lighter Skin Tone, Darker Skin Tone, Vivid Blue, Vivid Green, Vivid Red and Custom Color.

The flash modes are: Automatic, On, Off, Slow Sync Speed, Red Eye Reduction. In addition flash exposure compensation and flash exposure lock are available. The power of the flash unit can be adjusted too.

The maximum flash range is 3m. This falls to 2m when the zoom lens is fully extended. To increase the range of the flash unit you can buy an external flash - the Canon High Power Flash HF-DC1.

There are a number of preset scene modes. These are: Portrait, Landscape, Night Snapshot, Kids & Pets, Indoor, Night Scene, Sunset, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, ISO 3200¹, Color Accent, Color Swap and Stitch Assist.

You can shoot short, High Definition quality movies with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. Sound can be recorded and zoom can be applied before shooting.

Verdict:	This is a very good all round camera. The lens offers great flexibility and the features offer a great deal of scope. I like the picture quality it produces and it appears to have been well made. There are plenty of features to get your teeth into and it is hard to beat in its class.
