Canon IXUS 980 IS Features
The Canon IXUS 980 IS has 14.7 megapixels and a 3.7x optical zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 36 - 133mm in 35mm format. Other zoom options include Digital Tele-Converter approx. 1.7x or 2.2x and Safety Zoom. There is also 4x digital zoom available.

LCD and Viewfinder
The LCD monitor is 2.5 inches in size. The screen is made up of around 230,000 dots. An optical viewfinder is also available.
Flash
The flash modes are: Auto, On and Off. Red-eye Reduction and Slow Sync can be turned on and off. The maximum flash range is 4.6m. This falls to 2.4m when the zoom lens is fully extended. To increase the power of the flash you can buy a separate flash unit. This is Canon's High Power Flash HF-DC1. Flash exposure compensation and flash exposure lock are available. You can also adjust the intensity of the flash unit.

There are a number of preset scene modes. These are: Portrait, Night Snapshot, Kids & Pets, Indoor, Sunset, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, Underwater
Movies
The IXUS 980 IS can shoot standard TV quality movies with a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and a top speed of 30 frames per second. Sound can be recoded and zoom applied before shooting starts. Digital zoom can be applied during recording. The maximum movie time is 1GB of storage or 1 hour of recording time.
