Canon IXUS 870 IS Features
The Canon IXUS 870 IS has 10 megapixels and a 4x wide angle lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 28 - 112mm on a 35mm camera. Further zoom is available through a feature called safety zoom. 4x digital zoom is available as well.

LCD
The LCD monitor is 3 inches in size. The screen is made up of around 230,000 dots.
Flash
The flash modes are: Auto, On and Off. Red-eye Reduction and Slow Sync can be turned on and off. The maximum flash range is 4.2m. This falls to 2m when the zoom lens is fully extended. To increase the power of the flash you can buy a separate flash unit. This is Canon's High Power Flash HF-DC1. Flash exposure compensation and flash exposure lock are available. You can also adjust the intensity of the flash unit.
Scene Modes
There are a number of preset scene modes. These are: Portrait, Night Snapshot, Kids & Pets, Indoor, Sunset, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium and Underwater.
Movies
The IXUS 870 IS can shoot standard TV quality movies with a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and a top speed of 30 frames per second. Sound can be recoded and zoom applied before shooting starts. Digital zoom can be applied during recording. The maximum movie time is 1GB of storage or 1 hour of recording time.
