The Fuji Finepix S602 Pro Zoom is aimed at serious photographers. It has a number of features that allow you to maintain creative control over the final image and also accepts wide angle and telephoto lens converters. Although it is a 3 megapixel digital camera through Fuji's CCD technology it records 6 megapixels. Another attractive feature of the Fuji Finepix S602 Pro Zoom is it's 6x optical zoom lens. This is the equivalent of a 35-210mm zoom on a traditional 35mm film camera.
In terms of exposure control the Fuji Finepix S602 Pro Zoom has 64 zone TTL metering for multi, spot and average. There are four exposure modes, programmed AE, aperture-priority AE, shutter-priority AE and manual. There is also a wide range of ISO equivalent sensitivities, ranging from 160 to 1600. Shutter speeds can be set anywhere between 1/10000 to 3 seconds. There are a number of predefined white balance settings including fine, shade, and fluorescent light. There are also a number of flash settings including red eye reduction. The camera also has scene modes such as portrait, sports and night scene to help you take the best possible photograph. Continuous shooting is taken care of by a burst mode that allows you to take up to 40 shots at 1.8 frames per second.
For composing and reviewing images there is a good sized 1.8" TFT LCD screen and an electronic viewfinder. The Fuji Finepix S602 Pro Zoom is powered by four AA batteries. As with all digital cameras we recommend the use of rechargeable batteries and you should include the price of a recharger in your budget although this can sometimes be included in the package.
Images can be stored on either SmartMedia cards, Compact Flash cards or on an IBM Microdrive. As you would expect of a camera like this it is a good size to get a grip of. Its dimensions are 121 (W) x 81.5 (H) x 97 (D) mm / 4.8 (W) x 3.2 (H) x 3.8 (D) in and it weighs in at 500g / 17.6 oz. (excluding batteries).
