Sony Cybershot DSC WX1 vs Sony Cybershot DSC TX1 Comparison
Sony Cybershot DSC WX1
Sony Cybershot DSC TX1
The Sony Cybershot DSC WX1 and the Sony Cybershot DSC TX1 are two of the most innovative digital cameras on the market. They have both been fitted with a different type of sensor to the majority of digital cameras. This allows them to fire off extremely rapid bursts of photos at a rate of up to 10 frames second. Other advantages of such a fast processor mean that the camera is able to capture a type of photo Sony have christened a "sweep panoramic". All you need to do is press the shutter button down and sweep the camera round. The camera does the rest by firing off the shots it requires before stitching them together instantly.

Features
As you can see from the table above many of the headline features are very similar or the same. The biggest difference between the two models is the fact the Cybershot DSC TX1 has a touch control screen. Unlike a lot of other digital cameras offering touch control this model gives you more or less complete control over all the functions in this way.
More minor differences between the two cameras are that the Cybershot DSC WX1 has a wide angle lens and the Cybershot DSC TX1 has a macro mode that can get in closer at just 1cm away from the subject.
Design
Whether you like the design of one camera over the other is really a matter of personal taste. Both these cameras look good to my eye, although I think the Cybershot DSC TX1 has a clear edge and is one of the most attractive cameras on the market. It has a sliding lens cover and also one of the slimmest cameras you can buy as well.
Start Up and Shutter Lag
In addition to being able to fire off rapid bursts these are two of the fastest cameras around to take single photos. There is very little shutter delay. This should be a big help if you are planning to take a photo of any subject that might move.
Power Supply
Both cameras run on lithium ion batteries. Batteries and chargers are supplied as standard.
Picture Quality
I thought the picture quality of both cameras was very impressive. There is little to choose between the two cameras in this area. They can handle a wide variety of snapshot situations very well.
Ease of Use
The touch screen does not necessarily make the Cybershot DSC TX1 easier to use. This will depend on whether you are comfortable with this method over and above using the more traditional button control method. Neither camera is especially challenging and it should not take you long to find your way around whichever camera you ultimately decide to go with
Verdict
In terms of features and picture quality there is little to choose between the two cameras. So your decision is likely to be driven by whether or not you prefer the way one camera looks to the other and whether or not you prefer touch screen control. Whatever camera you choose out of the two I am confident you will have a very good camera.
