One of the main attractions of the Canon EF 35 mm f/2.0 is its large f/2 aperture. This gives you the option of using faster shutter speeds in fading light. This means that you should be able to hand hold your camera in darker conditions than you would when using a lens with a smaller aperture.
If you are using the EF 35 mm f/2.0 with a Digital SLR that does not have a full frame sensor the focal length will equate to around 50mm. This turns the lens into a standard lens rather than a wide angle lens.
The EF 35 mm f/2.0 has a 52mm thread for attaching filters.
